Town Hall to Explore Local Effects and Response of Opioid Addiction in Lafayette
Wednesday July 12th, The Knowledge Effect will host, Lafayette’s Opioid Crisis: What are We Doing About It?. It will be a town hall focusing on local data and experts who are facing this epidemic right here in the Hub City.
The purpose of the town hall is not only to provide factual information on how this nationwide epidemic is directly affecting Lafayette, but to show residents, how we are responding to it.
A panel consisting of experts from healthcare, law enforcement, and criminal justice will be available to field questions and discuss what they are seeing on the front line. They will also present how they are addressing it through prevention and treatment of this deadly addiction.
Panelists include Dr. Charles Burnell, Medical Director at Acadian Ambulance, members of the Metro Narcotics Task Force, Emergency Room doctors, and local pharmacists. We invite anyone who is interested to attend.
The Knowledge Effect is a community coalition focused on creating a healthy environment through substance abuse awareness and prevention through education, action, and community events such as this. The coalition consists of members from a multitude of agencies and industries who have a stake in making Lafayette parish a safe and healthy place for our families.
