Chad Willis – Counselor

Why did you become a counselor?
I was amazed when I first discovered addiction was an illness. I went to school to learn about that. Counseling just kinda happened as a result of my curiosity.

What is your favorite hobby?
Fishing

What is your favorite childhood memory?
Eating my grandmother’s cooking. She would cook a big meal for just me… then sit and watch me eat it. Her cooking was the best medicine. It was love.

What is your approach to counseling?
The nature of the word “recovery” is getting something back. Counseling to me is about helping someone discover what was lost and helping them get it back. What gets lost in addiction is the essence of the individual. Addiction has the power to turn someone into something we don’t recognize. Getting that person back is the task at hand. I utilize many psychological theories to help accomplish this.

Favorite food?
Mexican

If you could meet anyone past or present who would it be?
Jesus

Favorite part of your job?
Watching people discover the truth. Watching the lies disappear. Seeing the awakening of the essence of the individual.

Favorite TV show?
I don’t watch TV shows.

What musician or group are you listening to right now?
Led Zeppelin

What is your proudest achievement?
Being at peace with myself and the world around me.
