Tactical Recovery Gives Veterans the Help They Deserve

By on Jul 11, 2024 in Addiction, Blog, PTSD

As a Veteran, you put everything on the line for your country. You recognized the call for help, realized that someone needed to sacrifice, and you stepped up. Now, if you are transitioning to civilian life and struggling to find your footing, it’s time to get help instead of just giving it.

With the Tactical Recovery drug and alcohol treatment program in Lafayette, LA, provided by Victory Addiction Recovery Center, you can get highly specialized treatment for your needs in a place that respects, honors, and supports you.

There are few addiction and mental health treatment centers in the US that truly understand the different needs and objectives of Veterans. Tactical Recovery was built by and with Veterans, bringing you the support and resources you need to rebuild your future.

What Makes Treating Veterans Different?

Veterans often suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD is a very real, terrifying condition that creates intense fear and triggers your sense of fight or flight. According to the US Department of Veterans Affairs, 7 out of every 100 Veterans suffer from PTSD. The rates of PTSD in Veterans depends in part on when you served:

  • Serving in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom: 15 out of 100 veterans have suffered PTSD in the last year, and 29 out of 100 have at some point in their lives.
  • Serving in the Persian Gulf War (Desert Storm): 14 out of 100 Veterans suffered in the last year, while 21 out of 100 have at some point in their lives.
  • Serving in the Vietnam War: 5 out of 100 suffered PTSD in the last year and 10 out of 100 at some point in their lives.
  • Serving in the Korean War and World War II: 2 out of 100 suffered in the last year, and 3 out of 100 suffered at some point in their lives.

Important Note: As the report points out, “The data in this table is from Veterans alive at the time of the study. As such, it does not include Veterans in any service area who have died and may have had PTSD.”

It is critical to know that PTSD continues to be highly underreported for Veterans today. It is especially underreported in older Veterans. Anyone who served during combat is likely to have walked away with emotional and mental health challenges.

Veterans who never experienced combat may still develop PTSD in response to any stressful situation while in service. If you have PTSD, Tactical Recovery may be able to help you.
